WOW where did June go?? Summer is already going zip zip fast and I’m so far behind on all these cool blog posts I want to share with you. SORRY, they are coming I promise! Posts like “My recent trip to Glasgow and London”, “Vintage Dance Hall – Kenwick on the Lake” and “Vintage Air Canada advertising”. Stay tuned!

In the mean time here are some really cool images I have been recently pinning to my Pinterest board “Awesome Vintage Pics” that I wanted to share with you today.

Off we go on a vintage image adventure!

I did mention Summer above so lets start with a great summer photo of a couple enjoying Banff, Canada in the 1950s.

I love bowling, I’m terrible at it, but I love it and now I know my next “vintage bowling look”. Don’t you just love her look, especially with her adorable snood? But I do wonder how she is going to bowl only in her stockings?

Up next an Image from my upcoming blog post “Vintage Dance Hall – Kenwick on the Lake”.

Before it was razed Kenwick-on-the-Lake in Bright’s Grove was the place to be in Sarnia for entertainment and dancing. At a “Rock ‘n Roll Nite” held on July 24, 1956, as many as 1,700 teens danced the night away to the sounds of the Jack Kennedy Orchestra (source).

This image instantly caught my attention because I thought the woman in the photo was strikingly beautiful and also possessed great style.

This Sunday I’m back at the “Ascot like event” being held here in Toronto called “Hats and Horseshoes” for the big Queens Plate Race at Woodbine Racetrack. And once again I’m back to Pinterest looking for amazing Racetrack Fashions for inspiration like these very well dressed ladies from the 1930s.

One of the things I love about summer is all the festivals that are put on that never happen in the winter time. Like the Grilled Cheese Festival and the Poutine Festival (mmm Poutine). As a half German I also support festivals like this Sauerkraut Festival that was held in 1947, complete with the Queen of Sauerkraut.

All Hail the Queen!

I will now end my post today with this fantastic photos of young ladies from the 1950’s having a fun time together.

I love photos that maybe are not perfect but clearly capture a wonderful moment in time.

  1. I’m not sure that “Queen of Sauerkraut” is the compliment they think it is…

Great images. You can’t go past Australia for racing style, and the State library of Queensland has some phenomenal photos. There are great style photos from the Melbourne cup in the old papers and magazines too 🙂 With the same, often critical, media commentary they get these days!

    • LOL! I love Sauerkraut so I might like it hahaha 🙂

that is really great that so many images are still preserved in the papers to see how it was way back when. Three Cheers for archives!

  2. No kidding, eh! Even with Tony’s leaving for the States, June felt crazy fast – this whole year has been that way, it seems. My birthday is coming up this week on Friday and I’m sure it will be over in a flash, too. I don’t want to rush summer along, but at least I know that if it goes quickly, it will feel like less time apart from my hard working honey – oh, and then Halloween a few more weeks later, which, yes, I’ve already started thinking about. 😀

Great photos! Thanks for the fun roundup!

    • I hear ya! ohhhhh birthday!!! Oh I know it will be a marvelous day for you and I can’t wait to read all about it in your blog!

oh dear Halloween..I’m not there yet BUT I do have my costume plan though. So maybe I am?? lol!

      have a super day.

  3. These are great images, I love old photos. I managed to find some more vintage wedding photos to add to my collection so they will be featuring on my blog soon.

    • YES! I can’t wait to see the wedding photos you found. Old photos has become my recent vintage obsession due to being low on cash and low on closet space for more dresses 🙂 Photos are inexpensive and take up very little room lol!
