I love a good vintage magazine cover, so I thought I would start a new series on magazine covers from various dates ranging from the 1920s-1950s of the month we are currently in. Focus will be mostly on Women’s Magazines.

Wow these are not only cool to look at, but interesting as well… The Cosmopolitan could be from the 1990’s (almost) the girl doesn’t have 50’s hair and the cover talking about liquor and sex regarding teens in 1957? I’d never have guessed such topics would arise back then without seeing this magazine cover. I mean even if some teens back then were doing those things, I am surprised to see a magazine talking about it openly. Especially about sex! (clutches pearls) LOL! 😀
I know! When I saw this magazine I thought it was recreated but nope it’s a legit cover. Cosmo pushing the boundaries about talking about sex even in the 50s! Fun find 🙂

I have a huge collection of Better Homes and Gardens magazines from the 1920’s through about the 70’s. After that, they just do not appeal to me…maybe too much influence from the Women’s Movement. ( I lived through it. I am 69 years old and I have always felt “liberated”) Don’t get me wrong, I truly believe in woman’s rights, but, in my opinion. making a good home seems to be less appealing to some women than it was in the past. I love the decorating ideas and especially the recipes from Better Homes and Gardens. Many of the recipes are still my “go to” recipes.
Recipes in magazines in vintage Better Homes & Gardens, are the best! I may not be the best cook (my mothers wonderful cooking abilities seemed to have skipped me and went to my brother haha) but I try!
