June Magazine Covers 1920s-1960s

Over the last couple of years I was working on a series on ‘Vintage Magazine Covers‘ from each month of the year and I just realized that I never did June (or July, so stay tuned for that).

It’s been a lot of fun, to see what were popular topics and images from the 1920s to the 1960s as I browsed the web.

Let’s check out what I found!

June 1922- ‘The Flapper’, a magazine that is “Not for Old Fogies” (Vol 1, No 2).

About:

In 1922, a small-circulation magazine located in Chicago celebrated the flapper’s appeal.

On the opening page of its first issue, The Flapper proudly declared its break with traditional values:

Greetings, flappers! All ye who have faith in this world and its people, who do not think we are going to the eternal bowwows, who love life and joy and laughter and pretty clothes and good times, and who are not afraid of reformers, conformers, or chloroformers — greetings!…Thanks to the flappers the world is going round instead of crooked, and life is still bearable. Long may the tribe wave (source)!
